The Asian Elephant Specialist Group consist of 110 specialists from 19 countries across the globe as member of the group with diverse skill sets

The Members

The AsESG consist of 110 specialists from 18 countries across the globe as member of the group with diverse skill sets. Almost 1/4 th of the memberships are females and the average age of the group is 47.8 years with the maximum representation in the group of 41-50 years. Apart from the members, the Group also has Ex-officio officials from all Range States nominated by the Ministry looking after elephant conservation in the country.

The Group is chaired by Mr Vivek Menon and Dr Sandeep Kr Tiwari works as Program Manager for AsESG. Dr A. Christy Williams is the AsESG Red List Coordinator.

The Asian Elephant Specialist Group (AsESG) is a global network of specialists concerned with the study, monitoring, management, and conservation of Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) in its 13 range states
